About Jacque

Who I Am

I’m a Paleontologist, a Mom, a Wife, Vice Chair of Cheney Planning Commission, and Engaged Citizen. I have called Cheney home since 2010 and am raising my 4 sons Zak (16), Ozzy (5), Percy (1), and Alastor (<1), with my husband Kyle, a fellow EWU alum, Army Veteran, and Gonzaga Law Student. I teach Dinosaur Paleontology at Spokane Falls Community College where I get to educate people about complex scientific concepts and make connections to the modern world. I volunteer with CPSD in classrooms and athletics. While on the Planning Commission I have been a vocal supporter of affordable housing, water quality, pedestrian and cyclist friendly infrastructure, and sensible zoning that supports a vibrant and thriving community.

On the Issues

Affordable Housing
The broader Spokane region is experiencing skyrocketing rents, reductions in low-income housing, and lack of sustainable development. Cheney is no different. I will not support development that displaces Cheney citizens. I will encourage development of new homes by updating zoning to encourage diverse options for home ownership and rentals.

Clean Water
In 2021, Well #5 tested positive for PFAS, also known as forever chemicals. This is on the same end of town as the homes still experiencing heavy sediment loads in their drinking water. All of Cheney deserves access to safe and clean drinking water. I will support measures that ensure all of us have equal access to clean water.

Pedestrian Connectivity
I will support measures that enhance the walkability of Cheney. Connecting our neighborhoods and historic Downtown promotes local shopping, dining, and recreation while reducing traffic, pollution, and injury.
